The Ace Hotel – New York
Robert Inman once wrote, “Anyone can be an ACE: Attitude + Commitment = Excellence”
Although it does take some attitude and commitment to be an Ace, but it takes much more to be what the Ace hotel has accomplished with its brand.
I have recently enjoyed my first trip to the lovely City of New York, and decided to experience the Ace Hotel! While my travel bookings now very between Airbnb properties and vibrant city hotels this property was a no-brainer, in terms of location the Ace is in a historic, turn-of-the-century building in Midtown Manhattan within walking distance to anything beautiful you want to see within this magical City!
The room Categories in the Ace very from tiny Bunk bed, going up to Mini, Small , Medium and Large and Double rooms, and ending with a breathtaking 711 Square feet Loft Suite, I was traveling with my wife and we stayed in the lovely Medium Room, with windows overlooking the Empire state and gorgeous atmosphere, the room for me was a mixture of Kurt Cobain and the Beatles , acoustic yet vintage, dimmed but happy, Mystical but also Magical. The size was a decent 330 square feet Ideal for a New York hotel with this location
The lobby was a mixture of a 1940’s Bar and a Silicon Valley working space along the tunes of the finest DJ’s, the area was so full of life, full of everything new an exciting! What complimented our stay to an unbelievable extent, was waking up to the best coffee in Town, Stumptown Coffee Roasters located on the lobby level, was a magical start of every single day of our new York trip, it became such a favorite that we would drive back to this place on our stop overs in this city! My recommendation – Vanilla Late with Whipped Cream is to die for!
the Service was your hipster functional and fun type, you get what you need, on time and with a smile! I hate it when service is over done, and indeed I hate it even more when its not done at all, the Ace hotel management & staff needs to be complimented on finding the silver line of expectations versus reality, I had nothing more to ask for!
P.S – the hotel does also have the Breslin Bar and the John Dory Oyster Bar, both excellent venues where we did enjoy some drinks on the evenings, a more detailed review will be done during my next visit to New York!
